Tensitron, Inc. is an U.S. company, founded in 1935, which manufactures and designs both mechanical and electronic tension measuring instrumentation. Its products are used in many different industries and companies for a variety of quality control purposes. We are recognized as the leading provider of superior precision tension meters and tension measuring instrumentation used world-wide in manufacturing and test facilities.
As the original equipment manufacturer, virtually all of Tensitron's products are stock items. Located in Longmont, Colorado, Tensitron's state-of-the-art facility provides services and support for its instrumentation. Our goal is to provide prompt, highly-skilled, knowledgeable and personalized customer service and support to our existing and new customers.
Tensitron, Inc., formerly known as Saxl Instrument Company, was established in 1935 by Dr. Erwin J. Saxl, a well-known physicist. He designed instrumentation for the developing mechanized textile industries that could precisely measure tension, thereby providing a way to ensure product quality and consistency. Dr. Saxl was the inventor of, and held numerous patents on, the first tension meters.
As technology advanced, so did Tensitron's instruments. By the late 1940's and into the 1950's Tensitron had already designed and offered specific instrumentation to such diverse industries as: Wire, Filament, Paper Converting, Coil Winding, Aviation, and both Government and Civilian research facilities worldwide. Subsequent years saw the introduction of instrumentation for Fiber Optics, EDM Manufacturing, Aerospace, and other technologically demanding industries. Today, whether you're working in high temperature, high torr environments or simply needing to meet stringent ISO and QS requirements, Tensitron is here to help.
Dr. Saxl and his wife, Lucretia Hildreth Saxl, ran Tensitron for many years, developing and manufacturing instruments designed to monitor and control tension. Associated with the company since the 1960's, their son, Stanley H. Saxl, became the President and General Manager in 1991. During that year Tensitron was moved from Harvard, Massachusetts to Boulder, Colorado. In 2004 Tensitron expanded into its newly remodled and largest facility to date, located by the foothills near Rocky Mountain National Park, in Longmont, Colorado.
Stan continues Tensitron's tradition of inventing quality instrumentation, as well as working in the laboratories, on the production floor, and overseeing day-to-day operations. He develops one-of-a-kind, application-specific designs and to date has added the Aircraft Cable Tension Meters, Cable Tension Meters, the Sensing Beam family of Transducers, the TX Digital Tension Meters, the STX Digital Strap Tension Meters, the ACX Digital Aircraft Cable tension meters, the LX Digital Tension Meters, and the CX Digital Cable tension meters to Tensitron's product line.
Stan is assisted by his sister, Ellen-Alisa Saxl, and a team of skilled experts in helping customers find solutions to their tension measurement and control requirements. We are proud that Tensitron, Inc. has been brought squarely into 21st century technology while continuing the dedication to excellence and personalized customer service our company is known for.
